Introduction
E.l.f. Beauty sold a lot more makeup and skin care in its latest quarter. Its sales went up 51%. That is big growth for one company.
What Happened
E.l.f. Beauty said its net sales reached $520.8 million. Net sales means the money it made from selling its goods. This was for the three months that ended on September 30. It was the 31st quarter in a row with sales growth. A quarter means three months. The company also made a profit of $30.03 million. Profit means money left after costs are paid. A year ago, its profit was about $3 million. Its adjusted earnings were $1.21 per share. A share means a small piece of a company. Wall Street had expected 60 cents per share and $470.3 million in sales. So E.l.f. did better than expected on both counts.
Key figures
- Sales: $520.8 million, up 51%
- Profit: $30.03 million, up from about $3 million a year ago
- Adjusted earnings: $1.21 per share, against 60 cents expected
- Sales outside the United States: up 165%
Why It Happened
Chief executive Tarang Amin said every brand in the group grew. Growth came from shops and from online sales. Sales grew in the United States and in other countries. The company said Rhode, a skin care brand it bought last year, also did well. E.l.f. is also popular on TikTok Shop. Amin said it is the most-searched brand there. It is the No. 2 brand in cosmetics on that platform. Lower prices on some items may have helped too. The company lowered the price of about 10% of its items by $1. It did this after getting money back from tariffs. A tariff is a tax on goods from other countries.
Why It Matters
When a company sells more, it shows that people like its goods. It also shows that the company can grow in other countries. Only 25% of E.l.f. business is outside the United States. That leaves room to grow more abroad. A strong quarter can also help a company plan for the busy holiday season. Amin said the company is very hopeful about the holidays.
What Happens Next
E.l.f. raised its guess for the full year. It now expects sales of $2 billion to $2.03 billion. Before, it expected $1.94 billion to $1.97 billion. It also raised its guess for adjusted earnings to $3.82 to $3.86 per share. Before, it expected $3.50 to $3.55 per share. The company expects to get about $55 million in tariff refunds for the year. It plans to put that money into prices and ads. Watch the holiday season to see if sales stay strong.
Final Thoughts
E.l.f. had a strong quarter. Sales grew fast. Profit grew fast too. The next test is the holidays. If shoppers keep buying, the good run may go on.
